PolyDADMAC Liquid, PDADMAC Solution
CAS No.: 26062-79-3
Molecular Formula: (C8H16ClN)n
Structural Formula:
Properties:
PolyDADMAC is a high-performance textile auxiliary with key properties. It contains high-activity strong cationic radicals and activated adsorption radicals, which enable effective electrostatic neutralization and bridging adsorption—this helps flocculate suspended solids and negatively charged substances in textile systems.
It works well in flocculation, decolorization, algae removal and organic matter reduction about textile wastewater treatment. PolyDADMAC only needs a small dosage, and with that, it can form large, fast-settling flocs while achieving low residual turbidity in treated wastewater.
PDADMAC performs stably across a wide pH range (approximately 0.5-1.4), letting it adapt to changing conditions in textile processes like dyeing and printing. Besides, PDADMAC is odorless, tasteless and non-hazardous—this ensures worker safety, causes no impact on finished fabrics, and meets the textile industry's eco-friendly requirements.

Application:
PolyDADMAC in Textile Auxiliaries: Specific Applications PolyDADMAC (Polydiallyldimethylammonium Chloride) acts as a versatile textile auxiliary, with specific applications tailored to solve key challenges in textile processing from improving fabric performance to treating production wastewater. Its main uses are as follows:
1. Formaldehyde-Free Fixing Agent for Dyeing.
In textile dyeing (especially for cotton, linen, and blended fabrics), anionic dyes (e.g., reactive dyes, direct dyes) often have poor fastness to washing or rubbing. PolyDADMAC, as a cationic fixing agent, binds to the anionic groups of dyes and fabric fibers through electrostatic attraction. This forms a stable "dye-fiber-PolyDADMAC" complex, locking dyes onto the fabric. Unlike traditional formaldehyde-containing fixing agents, it avoids formaldehyde residue on fabrics (critical for apparel and infant textiles) while significantly improving color fastness (washing fastness, rubbing fastness by 1~2 grades).
2. Antistatic Agent for Synthetic Fibers.
Synthetic fibers (e.g., polyester, polypropylene, nylon) easily accumulate static electricity during spinning, weaving, and finishing—causing issues like fiber tangling, fabric pilling, or even safety hazards (e.g., static sparks). PolyDADMAC's cationic groups attach to the negatively charged fiber surface, forming a conductive film. This film dissipates static charges quickly, reducing static accumulation. It is widely used in synthetic fiber spinning (as an oiling auxiliary additive) and fabric finishing (as a post-treatment agent), making processing smoother and improving the wearing comfort of finished fabrics.
3. Fabric Surface Modifier for Improved Adsorption.
During textile processing, fabrics may have low adsorption capacity for dyes, softeners, or functional additives—leading to uneven coloring or poor additive retention. PolyDADMAC modifies the fabric surface by adsorbing onto fiber surfaces (especially cellulose fibers like cotton). It converts the weakly negative or neutral fiber surface into a cationic one, enhancing the electrostatic attraction between fibers and anionic functional substances (e.g., anionic dyes, softeners). This improves dye uptake rate (reducing dye waste by 5~10%) and ensures uniform coloration, while also boosting the durability of fabric softness or waterproofing effects.
4. Auxiliary for Textile Wastewater Treatment.
Textile production (dyeing, printing, desizing) generates large amounts of wastewater containing suspended solids (fiber fragments, sizing residues), anionic dyes, and organic matter. PolyDADMAC acts as a flocculant in wastewater treatment: its cationic groups neutralize the negative charge of suspended particles and dye molecules, while its long-chain structure enables bridging adsorption—gathering scattered impurities into large, dense flocs. These flocs settle quickly, removing 80~90% of dyes and suspended solids from wastewater. It also improves the efficiency of subsequent treatment (e.g., activated sludge processes) and helps meet textile industry discharge standards.
5. Sizing Auxiliary for Yarns.
In yarn sizing (to enhance yarn strength and abrasion resistance), traditional sizing agents (e.g., starch, PVA) may have poor adhesion to synthetic fibers or be difficult to desize. Adding PolyDADMAC to the sizing solution improves the compatibility between the sizing agent and fiber surfaces. Its cationic groups bind to both the anionic sizing agent and the fiber surface, strengthening the sizing film's adhesion. This reduces yarn breakage during weaving and simplifies desizing (as PolyDADMAC is easily soluble in water, avoiding residue on fabrics).
Usage:
Reactive dye fixation
Use 2~8 g/L active ingredient for pad-dry-pad process; for immersion process, add 0.5%~2% active ingredient based on fabric weight (o.w.f.). Suitable for cellulose fibers like cotton and linen, enhancing wet rub fastness.
Antistatic finishing
Use 3~10 g/L active ingredient for pad-dry-pad process; use 5~15 g/L active ingredient for spray process. Primarily for synthetic fibers like polyester and acrylic to reduce fabric surface resistance.
Softness/Waterproof Enhancement
When blended with softeners, add 0.3%~1.5% active ingredient by fabric weight; when blended with waterproofing agents, use 1~5 g/L active ingredient. Suitable for cotton blends and outdoor fabrics.
Fiber pretreatment
For pre-spinning immersion, use 2~6 g/L active ingredient to improve cohesion of cotton and viscose staple fibers, reducing breakage.
Packing and storage:
Packaged in 200kg plastic drums or 1000kg/IBC drums or according to client order.
PolyDADMAC should be sealed and stored in a dry and cool place. In this way, PolyDADMAC can be stored for two years without losing its effect. If there appears stratification after the long-term storage, PolyDADMAC can be mixed before being used.
